We’ve been working with Graham Ball Joiners on the cladding of the gwyndow / dindow / whatever – the hydraulic door, and they came to install it the other day. It looks amazing!
They used accoya wood which is softwood that is somehow ‘modified’ to make it extremely stable. Graham says they pickle it, but it says they do something more complicated than that on the website! I prefer pickled…
They also recommended Guardian Glass that is very clear and only lets in about a third of the heat. We can tell already that it’s extremely effective. As the frame and glass are sat on the outside of the steel frame, it’s completely thermally broken.
Obviously, as this has never been done before in a residential setting, we were really worried as to whether it would work, and thanks to Graham and Sean, they have come up with a beautiful, elegant and professional solution. Thanks guys!
Aw, this was a really good post. Taking the time and actual effort to generate a really good article… but what can I say…
I hesitate a lot and never manage to get anything done.
